The predecessor was one opaque recurrent Q-network, and the honest answer to “why?” was “the weights felt like it”. The framework replaces it with an assembled mind — perception, world model, social model, hierarchical policy, panic controller, ethics filter — declared across three YAML layers: what faculties exist, how each is built, and the think-loop DAG they run every tick. The world is declared the same way: bars, affordances, costs and public cues as data, with no secret physics in the environment loop. Panic may override the plan; the ethics filter is final, and that ordering is governance rather than code order. At launch the configs are snapshotted and hashed, and every tick of telemetry carries that hash alongside what the policy wanted, what panic overrode, and what ethics vetoed. Editing a snapshot before resuming makes it a fork, not a continuation — the hash proves which.
